The REACT project will demonstrate the potential of Renewable Energy Systems (RES) on geographical islands to bring economic benefits, decarbonise islands’ energy systems, reduce Greenhouse Gas (GHG) emissions and improve environmental air quality. REACT is being piloted in: La Graciosa (Spain), San Pietro (Italy) and Aran Islands (Ireland). Although the deployment of technology will not reach the
whole islands, REACT will provide and analyse replication plans to address energy autonomy from the mainland. The REACT solution will also be replicated in five follower islands: Gotland (Sweden), Lesbos (Greece), Isle of Wight (UK), Majorca (Spain), Reunion (France). Within the pilot islands, focus areas have been defined, which are the towns or population centres where the technology will be deployed.
These are: Caleta del Sebo in La Graciosa, Carloforte in San Pietro and Kilronan in Inis Mór, part of the Aran Islands.
This report outlines the principles of the REACT user engagement approach. This is based on the further analysis we conducted on the REACT survey using generalised linear models, as well as on insights from the literature on experiences of Demand Response (DR) with end-users.
